I've only seen the first two episodes at this point. I enjoyed the first. I think I liked it more than most. It's by no means classic Arrested Development (the jokes weren't as strong) and it's a bit too heavy on exposition but I think it sets things up well and I got a number of laughs out of it. I'm assuming that later in the season, they're going to push the characters back together and then I think the show will begin to feel more like itself.
Episode two was a step down. Dr. Clash pointed out that while Tambor is great, George Sr. suffers a bit when he doesn't get to interact with the rest of the cast and I tend to agree. Although I've always loved the character, he's not really capable of carrying an episode like this. I don't think this one was a total waste and I'm really impressed with how they're unravelling the plot in both of these episodes, but this one was certainly rather light on the laughs and could have benefited more if it didn't have to focus solely on George Sr.
I'm quite optimistic though. They're doing some interesting things with the plot and I think the laughs will come once all of this exposition is out of the way and they can get the cast back together (which I'm assuming will happen...right?). I'm not necessarily expecting the show to be back at the top of its game but it's a solid, if not great start, and I think there's potential for much improvement.

I feel like the whole season is built like GOB's 3000 dollar suit gag from "Afternoon Delight" - you start with the punchline and you eventually figure out the setup. It's impressive how they keep all those balls in the air so far, and offer different perspectives on only a small number of actual events, but overall the show feels listless and slow, which are not the words I ever thought I'd use in relation to AD.

I can honestly say having seen the entire season now, that it will be one of my favorite (if not the favorite) series of 2013 for me. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if not a single episode makes my top ten list of mine for 2013 (though episode 11 is a contender). Looking at these two pieces of information tells me that Mitch Hurrwitz succeeded at exactly what he aimed to do.
Basically the fourth season is everything I love about the series, magnified.

Still only five episodes in. Episode 4 and 5 were the best yet. Episode 5 actually had me laughing pretty hard at times.

I found too much of it to be uninteresting. There were some good points, but a lot of it felt like static filler that I didn't care about. I might watch the version done in order and see if that improves my opinion. And even a second viewing might improve my opinion. Although I'm kind of worried it won't because all the mysterious things that were interesting will no longer be mysterious, but I hope I can pick up on other stuff that knowing what happens will help me notice and find interesting/amusing.
Standouts were definitely GOB, George Michael and Maeby.
