Some TV shows receive more discussion than others and for those, we have individual threads. But if you want to discuss any random episode of television that perhaps doesn't typically receive as much discussion, and you don't feel the need to start a new thread (use your own judgement for that), this is the place!

I think this thread is a great idea. TV shows that most people don't watch probably own't even have their threads opened. Posts about them in here, however, might get people to notice them.

I think it's also a good place for rapid fire discussion of currently airing shows. Not necessarily liveblogs, although those could work too, but just really quick reactionary thoughts to new episodes of television.

I too think it's a good idea to have a thread where we say what a good idea this thread is. ;-P

I watched the Arrow pilot the other day, and I was surprised by how enjoyable it was. It was very fun camp, even if the lead performance is super hammy, to the point of awkwardness. Hopefully that aspect gets better. I like the idea of a morally ambiguous superhero when it comes to killing people. Because killing people is fun, and makes for good drama.

Arrow is something I could conceivably enjoy a lot. I might give it a viewing later. I'm not sure if it's worth the time commitment, though, compared to some of the other TV I haven't seen yet. Let me know if it improves a lot. I've heard good things from a lot of people, and am interested to learn more.

Yeah, I'm very curious about Arrow as well. It looks to be, at the very worst, a lot of mindless fun. The only problem is there is so much TV I want to start watching that I don't know if I could fit Arrow in there.

Just watched The Good Wife pilot. Don't have much to say at the moment but I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see more.

Finally got around to watching the second episode of Sherlock last night. It took me three hours to watch a 1.5 hour episode because I kept getting distracted.
I assume this show must get a lot better. It's mostly decent enough fun, if sometimes tedious, with strong performances (Freeman, in particular) but, at this point, undeserving of the hype.

It doesn't improve that drastically season to season or anything like that. The finales are the best episodes of both by a lot, but it's not like there's a drastic long term improvement, in my opinion anyway.

Yeah, the show is the same show from episode to episode, but the second episodes are the weakest offerings. To say it is undeserving the hype might be a misreading of the hype itself. Even as a fan of the show, I wouldn't praise it as one of the greatest dramas of all time, or anything. Just more fun than most shows on television these days. With occasional bits of moving pathos sprinkled in for good measure. Its Tumblr status is more indicative of his addictiveness, than its quality, I think.

Well, I wasn't expecting it to be one of the greatest dramas of all time or anything but I guess I was expecting a great show. I assume it reaches that level in the season finales.

The Sherlock Finales are both great - Season 1 is Mark Gatiss and Season 2 is Steven Thompson.
The problem with Sherlock is that there are 3 different voices, which create three different strengths of the show and three different weaknesses. I'm not going to get started on Moffat's problems, because you can easily get a thesis out of them, but Gatiss - to me - is the one who tries to stay close to canon which works in both The Great Game (103) and the Hounds of Baskerville (202, which gets a really bad wrap, but is probably the 2nd best of that season). Thompson didn't have the best material in the 1st season, which resulted in the weakest episode in The Blind Banker, but had the best material in season 2, which gave us The Reichenbach Fall. I'm not entirely sure on where he stands as a writer, but Moffat tends to try and be too clever while being misogynistic, while Gatiss is more like Russel T. Davis and brings everything back to character, which at the end of the day is going to work better on this version of Sherlock as a consistent measure and used sporadically on Moffat's Doctor Who.
Rankings: A Study in Pink - 8. The Blind Banker - 7. The Great Game - 10. A Scandal in Belgravia - 8. (When you get to that ep I'll be interested to see your thoughts. And I see Affro loves it more than I do. I'll be interested to see why.) Hounds of the Baskervilles - 9. The Reichenbach Fall - 10.

Does Moffat's misogyny ever factor into Sherlock? I was always under the impression that it, fortunately, does not - but you seem to imply it does here.

I just finished episode 2 of Arrow. Not as good as the pilot (which is not great), but still falls into the "mindless fun" category. There was some spectacularly bad acting from the villain of the week, though. Which was good, since it overshadowed the lead's performance.

I've now seen the first five episodes of Arrow. The first four are largely lackluster, but the one thing that that the show has going for it is how well it's able to build its world in these early episodes. The resolution of episode 4 wasn't unpredictable, but it was something I wasn't expecting to happen until at least later on in the season. Episode 5 was the best episode yet, as it confidently tackled one of the biggest problems a show like this faces, and largely gets it out of the way. I'm genuinely looking forward to the next episode.

I didn't really like A Scandal In Belgravia. I just found it a bit needlessly complicated and like the show was having a bit of a fever dream. So I'm not sure how I'll go with the next two episodes. But I really liked Season One.

There was some spectacularly bad acting from the villain of the week, though. Which was good, since it overshadowed the lead's performance. Having now watched the first two episodes today, I actually think the second is an improvement on the first. Not particularly good television, necessarily, but I thought Oliver trying to break free from his father's shadow and trying to establish his own identity resonated fairly well. I just think it does a nice job building off of the pilot rather than repeating the exact same beats. There were some clichés but that's almost a part of the fun, if that makes sense. Heck, I find even Amell's performance to be charming because it's so flawed. I'm sure the series, as well as his acting, will come into its own more as it moves along but I'm quite enjoying the show for what it is at the moment.
