Red Dwarf's a legendary comedy/sci-fi series that lasted multiple seasons, which isn't common for a UK show.
It had an insane premise: the only guy left in the human species is Dave, a slacker, and his only remaining companions are a hologram of his best friend, a perfectionist and the Felix to his Oscar, and a creature who evolved from a black cat who is now basically an energetic black person who wears stuff like zoot suits with cat tendencies. They're traveling through space on a giant ship directed by the ship's computer, the other character on the show.
It's on Netflix instant, by the way (for the time being.)
