In this thread I will provide a handy guide to various sketch comedy shows via a select set of clips. The ones picked will be done so as a representative guide for the show and to immortalize certain sketches with resonance.
NOTE: This is a work in progress, so don't huff and puff about certain shows or sketches not being shown. Feel free to suggest things, but over the next week I'll fill out most of the rest of what I have in mind.
Kids in the Hall
Years: 1989 to 1994. The group first formed in 1984.
Key members: Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson.
Gavin: Painting a Chair. Gavin's one of their most famous characters, and he's the prototypical little kid who keeps talking about inane shit and won't shut the hell up.
Head Crusher. Some men have simple pleasures, like standing at a distance and pretending to crush people's heads with your fingers using the power of perspective.
LLove and Sausages. An eight-minute surreal tale of love set in a sausage factory.
Pen. A Twilight Zone, Hitchcock-esque black and white thriller of an office worker losing a pen.
Zombies. A zombie parody with infectious energy. "We're safe but for how long?"
Upright Citizens Brigade:
Years: 1998-2000 for the show on Comedy Central. The group itself has been active since 1990.
Key members: Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh.
Ass Pennies. Yes, their infamous sketch about putting pennies up your ass, and don't worry; it's explained well.
Mr. Show
Years: 1995 to 1998.
Key members: David Cross, Bob Odenkirk, John Ennis, Tom Kenny, and Jill Talley.
Pre-taped Call-in Show. David Cross is exasperated when his callers seem to have a problem with the fundamental nature of his show format. I don't know why....
Camp Monk Academy.
The Musical: Barn with Three Holes
The Audition
Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Years:
Key members:
Richard Simmons: Living Scenery.
Party Quirks: Steamroller, Inspector, and Model
Song Styles: Arctic Tern
Robin Williams: Scenes from a Hat
Party Quirks: Fight Scene, Circus, and Foal Birth
Dana Carvey Show
Years:

Snuff Box
Years:
