I really want to read this book about polar bears. It's an intriguing non-fiction book of a world somewhat familiar, yet utterly new. Polar bears are so heavily populated in this town people keep their doors unlocked so that strangers can run inside whenever they have a bear chasing them. When you go trick-or-treating on Halloween you are accompanied by men with guns, often policemen. They use an abandoned military building as a polar bear jail. They seriously have a polar bear jail! There is now a public record of 9000 animal sounds courtesy of Cornell. Here's the NPR link. Can someone please go to Cornell and check out all the sounds for me and put it on a torrent site or something? Thanks. Now here's a clever idea. A library in Colorado is now checking out seeds. You take them, plant and then after they have grown you return the new seeds from the plant. In a high altitude arid region, it can be hard to find anything that grows well, so now they have this community program of sharing which seeds work and improving on what they have from plant generation to generation. Seed bank! People who say NPR news is a liberal wank-fest are missing the really cool stuff.
